Product Introduction
Shanghai Suoqi Wire & Cable Co., Ltd. has launched a series of polyurethane cables, using polyurethane (PUR) as the sheath material. It is specially designed for harsh conditions involving frequent movement, dragging, winding, and contact with oil stains and wear. It is widely used in port machinery, mining equipment, CNC machine tools, automated logistics, and outdoor engineering equipment. Polyurethane sheaths combine the flexibility of rubber with the strength of plastic, excelling in wear resistance, oil resistance, tear resistance, and low-temperature resistance. They are a long-lasting alternative to ordinary rubber sheaths and support customization by cross-section, core count, shielding, and tensile structures.
Operating Condition Pain Point Analysis
The value of polyurethane cables comes from the high loss rate of ordinary cables in these scenarios. Second, mechanical wear failure. Mobile device cables are in long-term friction with the ground, tracks, and drag chains, and ordinary rubber sheaths are easily worn through, exposing the core wires, which quickly leads to short circuits. Third, swelling due to oil contamination. Long-term contact with machine tool cutting fluid, hydraulic oil, and lubricating oil can cause ordinary sheaths to swell, soften, crack, and powder, causing insulation performance to drop sharply. Fourth, brittleness at low temperatures. In northern winters or cold storage environments, ordinary rubber sheaths harden and become brittle, cracking directly when bent. Fifth, tear and tensile damage. Under dragging conditions, cables bear significant pulling force; if the sheath’s tear resistance is insufficient, it can be ripped open, causing the core wires to break under stress. Sixth, coiling fatigue. With repeated winding and unwinding on drums and reels, the sheath repeatedly bends, developing cracks that gradually expand.
Product Technology Analysis
From the perspective of raw material selection, the polyurethane cable sheath uses thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, with the soft and hard segments in its molecular structure forming microphase separation, giving it both high elasticity and high strength. Compared with ordinary rubber sheaths, polyurethane's wear resistance can be several times higher, it has excellent resistance to mineral oil and hydraulic oil, and has a low embrittlement temperature, maintaining flexibility even in environments of minus thirty to forty degrees Celsius. The conductor uses multi-stranded fine twisted soft copper wires, with a short lay length and high flexibility, combined with tensile elements (such as aramid yarn or galvanized steel wire) to withstand pulling forces. The insulation layer is made of oil- and heat-resistant materials, forming double protection together with the sheath.
From the perspective of the cable manufacturing process, the conductor is stranded using a small pitch compounding structure to ensure dynamic bending life; the tensile elements are placed at the center of the cable core or distributed symmetrically so that the tensile force is borne by the reinforcing elements rather than the conductor. During cabling, the core wires are twisted together at the optimal pitch, and padding and wrapping are added when necessary to ensure roundness. The sheath is extruded using an extrusion process, with the polyurethane tightly bonded to the cable core to prevent delamination; the extrusion temperature and cooling gradient are precisely controlled to ensure a dense, pore-free, smooth, and wear-resistant sheath. Before leaving the factory, each batch undergoes abrasion, oil resistance, low-temperature bending, and tensile tests to ensure compliance with mobile operation requirements.
